Afropop.org launches its latest Hip Deep Eddition

If you’re not already hip to Afropop.org, its an online hub for  music and stories from Africa. Hip Deep is Afropop’s media project dedicated to the idea that music is a key to understanding everything. Get hip deep into programs on how the music formed and informed cultures in Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas, plus companion interviews, features, discographies and more.

Everyone knows jazz: blues, improvisation, syncopated rhythm, all firmly rooted in Africa via Congo Square in New Orleans. But how have American jazz masters addressed the African ancestry of their music? I urge you all to check out this project and learn about this vast intersection.
